About No Prescription Minocycline in Questions
Stomach / Bowel problems after stopping Minocycline prescription? Hey! I just got off taking Minocycline antibiotics after two months of taking it. I'm getting bad diarrhea and horrible stomach pains. I've never gotten these before or during taking the prescription... I'm quite sure the problems have been caused as antibiotics kill off the GOOD bacteria as well as the bad bacteria in the stomach and intestine.... Does anyone know of possible cures? Certain foods I should eat? Liquids? Vitamin supplements? I'd like to get on a diet to fix this ASAP. Any help is appreciated. :)

Sandra replied: "Good brands of yogurt, that say they contain "active cultures", can be effective. You would want to eat about 3 of those cups a day. These contain Lactobacillus acidophilus and variations. Anything else that agrees with you is fine to eat."

Is it ok to take Biotin and Minocycline at the same time? Every morning I take Biotin along with Minocycline, a prescription for acne. Is this bad, and what could happen? I've been doing this for awhile now.

❀ a sojourner ❀ ☪ ♡ ❀ replied: "Well minocycline is an antibiotic and antibiotics destroy gut bacteria along with any pathogenic bacteria they are designed to target. Our gut bacteria are a source of B vitamins, including biotin as they synthesise this. So long-term antibiotic use could render you deficient in some B vitamins, particularly biotin. So it would be advisable to take the biotin later in the day [evening] and it might also be advisable to take B complex too if you are on long-term antibiotics, in addition to a probiotic supplement to provide some gut friendly organisms [take in the evening]. More info: Hope that helps."

Taking multivitamins and prescription meds at the same time? I'm taking Minocycline ( a prescription antibiotic for acne, pill taken orally), and I also take many vitamins including biotin and B complex. If I take them at different times, for ex. if I take minocycline in the morning then the vitamins at night, will this be ok?

Belgian replied: "not a problem!"

Mathieu replied: "That should be fine. But you can not take ANY vitamins or drink dairy within 2 hrs of taking Minocycline. If you do calcium (primarily, but others too) will deactivate the minocycline and render it useless. If you are taking the Minocycline twice daily (which is normal) then you need to take the vitamins mid-day."

I am on minocycline 100mg capsules, and my face still breaks out! Please help!? I am taking prescription minocycline capsules 100mg each twice a day. I still break out, after washing my face every night with soap and water. I have tried proactive once, and it didn't work well for me. Does anyone know of any sort of topical ointment or a good acne treatment I could try? I appreciate any sort of recommendations. Thanks!!!

calbells replied: "i used to be on minocycline. almost two years ago. its an antibiotic so it'll help for some time, but then your body will get used to it, and it won't work as well. how long have you been taking it? after getting off of mino. i went to my dermatologist again and asked for something stronger. he suggested that i talked to a ob-gyn and get put on birth control and a diuretic...which helps with hormone levels. i'm 18 now, and have had acne since 11 so i know its not just a stage...it is my hormones. also, my obgyn told me that most acne around your chin and mouth is hormonal...and that is most of what i have. proactiv never helped me, nor anything else. anyway, the birth control helps a lot. my diuretic does too, its called spironolactone. i use clinique's clarfying system (their makeup and cleansers)...made for acne prone skin. it def. keeps my skin clean and softer. good luck!!!"

I have been on minocycline for 2months for acne. My doc gave me prescription for 5 months is it ok to stop now I am seeing a difference, my acne is clearing up but there are so many blemishes left from the acne what can I do about the blemishes

alpla replied: "Yes. It works better when you pulse meds.; take off and on. For blemishes there are countless products, Idk."

Glenn M replied: "Please continue your meds as your doctor ordered - I had to go off my antibiotic because it made me so sick to my stomach - and am using pine tar soap now to wash my face 3x a day - but nothing works better than an antibiotic - if you stop most likely the acne will come back! It did for me! If you're still breaking out in a few months on the antibiotic ask for a stronger one minocycline is a weak one. If it's working - why stop? Use it it'll help clear up the blemishes in time - if not go back and ask for doxycycline - that's stronger and will really wipe out every bit of acne at a strong enough dose...good luck..."

Minocycline (tetracycline) does it clear up Acne? I was just put on Minocycline today ! I also use the Clean and Clear kit to! My Question has anyone had good results from this prescription medication! Minocycline - (is a tetracycline antibiotic)? Also has people had many side effects with this? I seem to be having some cramping!

alpla replied: "It's excellent! You'll start seeing results in two weeks or so. To minimize the cramps ALWAYS take on full stomach; after your main meal. And ignore all the warnings (like no milk, dairy,etc..) the pharmacy puts on the bottle. They are true in part but for acne purposes they are BS."

tmuthiah replied: "Primarily used to treat acne and other skin infections as well as lyme disease ."

scene_luke replied: "i was on them and i wouldnt take them yes after a while yur skin clears up because all the bacteria in yur body is dieing even the good ones that promote healthy digestion i got a candida yeast overgrowth in my intestines becasue the bacteria that kills the bad yeast was dead from minocycline i now do colon cleanses once a month and refuse to take any antibiotics they are horrible for u ever heard over staff infection its a man made disease from overuse of antibiotics"

darla replied: "I remember hearing years ago that tetracycline turned teeth yellow; actually kind of a stripe of discoloraton that didn't go away, so maybe you might want to check and see if this newer version has this side effect."

imsety replied: "Tetracycline is for STD disease not for acne but see your health care provider for info, perhaps maybe Minocycline may cure acne, in which case i have no ideas on its used. And good luck."

Will I have to take Minocycline my whole life in order to keep my skin clear of acne? So I've been on Minocycline for about 3 weeks and its working well. Once my prescription is up, will my skin stay clear or will I need to continually take this stuff in order to keep the results?

pipesmokemcgee replied: "It depends on your age and your progress in your growing up. You will probably have to take it for several years, but once your body stops changing as rapidly, you probably won't need it anymore. That would be a good question for your doctor, as he knows your situation better than anybody else."

yuljsiymyadthrib replied: "Is it really working well? I am just starting it, and i have some bad acne on my back, its like blackheads, how is it working, please e-mail me. Thanks sorry i cant answer your question."

acenason replied: "Stop taking mino. Your body will eventually get used to it and then it will become resistant. You need to clear acne the natural way and not only will your skin clear up, but in general you will be much healthier. Check out my blog for more information. I have had acne for 12 years and I know what I am talking about... healthyacnecure.blogspot.com"

sheridean replied: "The usual initial dosage is 50 to 100 mg twice each day. The dosage is tapered when a significant decrease in the number of lesions is observed, usually in 3 to 6 weeks."

Minocycline and tanning beds? I am taking a prescription of minocycline for my acne, and with this antibiotic you are reccomended to avoid UV exposure as your body is photosensative to light. So if I go into a tanning bed, I am guessing that will be 10 times worse?

drdave1666 replied: "not good mix the 'cyclines (mino, tetra....) decrease the ability of the body to fight off UVa & UVb thus making the 'pink' that you wanted into 2nd degree burns... be careful (think of final destination 3)"

taryyip replied: "When using Minocycline, keep out of the sun, or wear protective clothing outdoors and use a sunscreen. Do not use sun lamps or sun tanning beds or booths."

Dee replied: "Or, never go in a tanning booth at all, whether on micocin or not!!!"

dose minocycline work? Hey guys, i finally took the step, an got a prescription of minocycline for my bitch acne. im on day one currently. an im very pumped to see some results, have any of you taking this? if so how long do you think it will take to clear my face?

Ray replied: "7- 10 day to clear up"

Steve replied: "I took it back in the day and it worked very very well for me. pro active and all those others didn't make a difference for me at all. minocycline works but it's also not instant results. it will take a long while. You will get a large bottle of pills with probably more refiels which is why it will take awhile. i think i had to take close to the whole first bottle to start seeing little results. then more and more and ive been acne free for 6 years. you get the occasional zit here and there but that nothing compared what you could have. minocycline works but might not work for everyone."

Karissa replied: "I was on it for about 3 months and it didn't do anything for me. Nothing ever worked for me. Prescriptions, over the counter, topical, oral, it didn't matter it didn't work. I finally had to start taking accutane which is like a last ditch chance because their are major health risks while taking it. That was the only thing that helped with mine and I was on it for about 6 months."
